As a Willoughby Symphony Choir chorister, you will be expected to perform a few pieces from memory.
These are performed regularly so please spend some time getting to know them (don’t worry, they’re not too tricky!).

Free choral learning sites

  • YouTube - Use the Search function including the name of the piece, along with terms such as ‘learning’ or ’teaching’ and your voice part

  • Cyberbass - Medium range of major works. SATB or Tutti. Site includes player controls to change speed (function not available on IPad). Clear piano. Also includes link to purchase the full work from Amazon.

  • Choralia - Good range of whole works. SATB. Includes Voice with metronome, piano; Emphasised voice and other voices; All voices. Includes computer generated words. Contains MP3 files which can be played from site or downloaded.

  • Choraltech - Quite a large range of whole works. SATB or Tutti; played on piano. Can be played directly from site or downloaded.

  • Learn Choral Music - Pretty basic site, but easy to navigate & reasonable range of single and whole works. SATB. Can be played from site or downloaded.

  • Singing Practice - Basic site, not a big range. Includes some whole works. SATB parts. Can be played from site or downloaded.

The following sites have a smaller range of music sung by these particular choirs:

  • University of WA - Medium range of whole works. SATB. Midi or MP3 files. Can be played from site or downloaded.

  • St Mary’s Singers - Reasonable range – mostly single titles. SATB or Tutti. Can be played from site or downloaded. Very clear piano.

Paid choral learning sites

  • John Fletcher Music - They charge a small annual subscription. Quite a good range of single pieces and whole works. SATB. Not an easy site to browse. Use the Search function to find composer name. Contains midi and MP3 files which can be played from site or downloaded. Some pieces include some slower versions for learning.

  • Hammond Music - This site has a large range of single and whole works. Can either purchase CD or MP3 (cheaper) in single SATB parts. File includes verbal introduction to each piece. Gary Hammond will also add MP3 files into Dropbox for instant purchase once he has received payment. Gary can also be contacted by email – and he generally responds. A good resource.

  • Choraline - Reasonable range. Can purchase CD or MP3. SATB. Includes verbal instructions. Can listen to a sample on the site. Can purchase other products on site, including music folders.

  • Note Perfect - Medium range of works. Each voice highlighted individually on piano, with the remaining parts on wind instrument with the orchestration. Can listen to sample on the site. Can buy CD or download file.

  • Single Parts - Small range. SATB. CD or (immediate) MP3 format. Includes very clear words. Challenging passages recorded at slower tempo.
